Sam Barber is a financial communications strategist and founder of Pitchr.ai, with 15 years of experience advising financial services and fintech companies across payments, asset management, banking and capital markets. He works with clients across the U.S. and Europe.

A decade at Cognito saw him run communications programs for leading global institutions, lead award-winning campaigns and advise on some of the largest M&A deals in fintech. He works as a strategic advisor to CEOs and founders of startups and growth-stage companies and in some cases serving as a fractional head of communications.

Previous clients include Alloy, FIS, Global Payments, ING Group, J.P. Morgan Payments, MarketAxess, Morningstar, SWIFT and Worldpay.

In 2025, Sam founded Pitchr.ai after seeing too many companies fail to get real value from traditional PR agencies. Pitchr is built around a different model: senior-level strategy and hands-on execution, without the layers. It's designed to help companies manage reputation effectively through an increasingly fragmented media landscape — and do it in a way that's credible and built to last.

Andrew Marshall
Senior Advisor

After a decade in investment banking at Deutsche Bank, Andrew moved into communications in the 1990s, with senior roles at H&K and Fishburn Hedges. From 2012 to 2026, he ran Cognito's London and then New York offices.

His client roster spans major financial institutions — ING, S&P Global, J.P. Morgan, FIS, CME Group, Morningstar and SWIFT among them — as well as growth-stage companies navigating funding, partnerships and exits.

Andrew's expertise covers corporate and product communications, CEO profiling, issues management, M&A, restructurings and rebranding. He's a self-described doer: writing copy, pitching media and coaching executives for print, broadcast and conference appearances. Fluent in German and French, he brings particular depth to cross-border European communications.

He has also stood for election to the U.K. House of Commons and European Parliament and served as a part-time London councillor from 1990 to 2018, specializing in finance and pensions.
